Visual quotations* are ethnographic snapshots that utilize images, graphics, and videos to represent and narrate culture. Photos, videos, and mapping convey the individual and collective experience and capture the nuances of traditions, rituals, and quotidian practices. Below are visual quotations from my fieldwork. These images serve as a medium to engage with and gain insights into socio-economic and political life and cultures—human and non-human.

*This term is coined by my friend, the late Richard Freeman, a librarian, visual ethnographer, and cultural anthropologist. Thank you for your lessons on visual storytelling and on how to use my camera to capture, convey, and represent others.
